As Head of UX, I directed the team's daily work and long-term strategy, grew the team through hiring, and brought in a senior UX contractor to help drive the workload.
Beyond the design system, we rebuilt IST's brand, redesigned their website, and reworked several products using the new system. The role also involved close advisory work with the board and senior management on design strategy and cross-functional ways of working.
Challenge
IST's product portfolio had grown organically, with each team building interfaces independently. The result was inconsistency across products, slow delivery cycles, and no shared language between design and development.
On top of that, sister companies in Denmark were building in parallel with no coordination, duplicating effort and diverging further with every release.

Solution
I led the team in building the design system from the ground up with scalability as the core principle. Every component came with documentation, implementation guidelines, and clear ownership.
To bridge the gap across borders, I established a new collaboration with the Danish teams, aligning on shared patterns and processes. I introduced methods that allowed for rapid product design and innovation at scale, giving teams the tools to move fast without sacrificing consistency.
Outcome
The design system was adopted across multiple companies and countries, powering a rebuilt brand, a new website, and redesigned products. It enabled faster product cycles and stronger cross-team collaboration.
Design grew from a support function to a strategic role, with the board and senior management regularly consulting on UX strategy and ways of working.
